2024 Dede Rippetoe-Reed Scholar Announced

The Community Foundation of Huntington County is pleased to announce that Caleb Reust is the 2024 recipient of the Dede Rippetoe-Reed Scholarship. The scholarship amount is $5950 and will be applied to Reust’s participation in the Indiana University Honors Program in Foreign Languages. Reust is a senior at Huntington North High School. He will study abroad in Spain through the IU Honors Program this summer and plans to attend Purdue Fort Wayne to major in Secondary Education with a minor in Spanish.  He is the son of Mindy and John Reust of Huntington.   

Dede Rippetoe-Reed established this scholarship at the Community Foundation in 2023.  Reed was a Spanish Teacher at Huntington North High School from 1983 to 1996.  She was profoundly influenced by her first study abroad trip to Mexico after graduating high school and wants to provide others with similar opportunities. Reed says, “I hope that this trip benefits Caleb as much as my first study abroad experience benefited me both educationally and personally.”

The scholarship is open to Huntington North High School students accepted to the Indiana University Honors Program in Foreign Languages for Indiana high school students pursuing study in Spanish, French, or German.
