On Thursday, Oct 27th (Riverview) and Wednesday, Nov 2nd (Crestview) at 5:30 pm, Crestview and Riverview will be sponsoring a chance to sign your child/children up for the 21st Century Scholars program. Parents can attend either meeting at either school. Pick the night that works best for you, and come on out! Students are eligible for the 21st Century Scholars Program if they are currently enrolled in the 7th or 8th grade and qualify for free or reduced lunch.
Indiana’s 21st Century Scholars program started in 1990. It is an early-college promise program designed to help ensure that every Hoosier student can afford the opportunity provided by a college education. Today, eligible students who maintain the Scholar Pledge to excellence in school and life receive a scholarship for up to four years of up to 100% tuition at an eligible Indiana college or university after they graduate from high school. 1
The meetings start with free pizza for attendees. Then parents will have the opportunity to sign their child(ren) up with the help of several community members and Dr. Jones from the state program. At the conclusion of the meeting, there will be a drawing for a couple of door prizes.
Parents will need to bring several things to be able to complete the sign-up process:
- Child(ren)’s Social Security number, date of birth and address
- The parent/guardian’s Social Security number or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number, if applicable
- 2021 gross income amounts for all members of the household.
- A valid email address
Students cannot enroll in the 21st Century Scholars Program after June 30th of their 8th-grade year unless they enter the Foster Care System. If an enrolled student decides not to pursue college, there is no obligation to accept a scholarship.
