After graduating from Huntington North in 2003, Heather (Willems) Larr attended Indiana University where she graduated in 2007 from the School of Public and Environmental Affairs with a major in Nonprofit Management. She is grateful to the Lilly Endowment and the Huntington County Community Foundation for the Lilly Scholarship, which lessened the financial burden of her education while attending school and beyond. As a token of her appreciation, she shared her experience and wisdom as the keynote speaker at the 2014 HCCF Scholarship Recognition Dinner.
Thanks to the Lilly scholarship, Heather was able to pursue extra-curricular activities while at IU, such as playing trumpet in the Indiana University Marching Hundred, the Big Red Basketball Band, and the All Campus Band, where she formed memories and friendships she holds most dear from her time in Bloomington.
Heather currently works at Lincoln Financial Group in Fort Wayne, Indiana as a Business Analyst supporting Individual Annuity Operations. As a Business Analyst, she works with one of the company’s websites, using a mix of technical, industry, and company experience to help the ease of business for the company’s customers and agents. She uses her knowledge and customer focus from previous roles in Lincoln to provide a better customer experience to help people feel confident and give them the tools to succeed in their financial futures.
Heather lives in Huntington with her husband of 9 years, Erik, and their two children, Harrison (4) and Violet (2).
Heather remains a great friend of the Community Foundation and we thank her for serving as one of Huntington County’s 2003 Lilly Endowment Community Scholars. She continues to be a great role model for Huntington County students!
