Souder Scholarship Continues to Support Future Local Aviators

From a young age, Paul Souder knew he wanted to be a pilot. In fact, his passion for flying led him to obtain his pilot’s license before his driver’s license. After high school, he attended Flight Safety International in Vero Beach, FL and went on to work for Air Wisconsin as a commercial pilot. He was known for discussing flying with everyone he met.

Unfortunately, Paul’s life was taken in a small airplane crash near Leesburg, FL on February 14, 2005. He was 24 years old. Click here to read about the impact Paul had on others through notes left by friends and family. He was truly loved by all.

In April of 2007, Paul Souder’s parents, David P. Souder and Jenny Dietz along with his brothers, Michael, Jonathan, and Matthew decided to establish a memorial scholarship in his name to encourage local students to pursue their aeronautical dreams. A fitting tribute to a man who was described by one of his pilot friends as someone who’s personal slogan was “livin’ the dream.”

We congratulate Jason Hart for renewing his Souder Scholarship and continuing to represent Paul’s passion for flying!
