On Monday, the Huntington County Community Foundation and United Way of Huntington County announced a joint effort to create the Huntington County Emergency Relief Fund. By the next day, Trinity United Methodist Church had already sprung into action, donating $6,000 to help the cause.
“Trinity has always had a heart for the community of Huntington and is a giving congregation. As a result of the generosity of members past and present we are happy to share the blessings that God has provided for us with the community,” said representatives of Trinity United Methodist Church. “When the offer was made by the United Way and Community Foundation to triple our giving, we saw a wonderful opportunity to help more people.”
For every $1 donated to the Fund, the Community Foundation and United Way will provide a $2 for $1 match up to $25,000. This match triples the impact of your donation and helps communities across Huntington County continue to provide essential services during this time of hardship and uncertainty.
“We are thrilled but not surprised that our community is rallying behind this challenge and behind one another,” said Kyle Metzger, President and CEO of the United Way. “We are confident that we will get through this time together, and we appreciate all the support we see community members giving to one another in so many ways.”
Contributions to the Fund can be made by check payable to the Community Foundation with Emergency Relief Fund in the memo line or online at www.huntingtonccf.org/relief. 100% of contributions to this fund (minus credit card transaction fees) will be utilized to support local organizations who are on the frontlines responding to this challenge.
“This is an opportunity for all of us to strengthen our relationships and unite towards one common goal,” said Matt Ditzler, Executive Director of the Community Foundation. “By working together, we will emerge from this challenge stronger than ever.”
