Apply for a Variety Of Grants Supporting Local Organizations & Causes
The Community Foundation offers a variety of grants for organizations and causes that serve Huntington County residents. The grant application process varies, as some grants are awarded through an open, competitive grant application process, while others are distributed based on donor preferences. General Grant Cycles
Grant Purpose: the Foundation has two General Grant Cycles per year open to local charitable entities that provide funding for anything except operational costs.
Eligibility: General Grant Cycles are open to entities applying for charitable projects that benefit quality of life for all in Huntington.
Application Timeframe: each year, the application for Cycle I opens December 1st and the application for Cycle II opens June 2nd.
Project Examples: arts & cultural initiatives, life skills workshops, electrical upgrades, leadership programming, child-friendly spaces, fundraising equipment, building expansions.
Classroom Education Grants
Grant Purpose: these grants allow teachers and administrators seeking funding to implement a project in their classroom that is innovative, designed to stimulate learning and helps the educator meet state standards.
Eligibility: teachers, administrators or a collaboration of teachers grades Pre-K through 12th Grade are welcome to apply.
Application Timeframe: yearly application opens September 1st.
Project Examples: reading book nook, new musical instruments, Robotics Club items, ELS programming, STEM materials, books, toys, 9-Square for Physical Education, playground upgrades.
Accessibility Grants
Grant Purpose: in collaboration with AWS Foundation & Pathfinder Services, these grants provide funding for any project that will provide more inclusivity to all in Huntington County.
Eligibility: private businesses, schools, individuals, churches, non-profits and government entities are invited to apply.
Application Timeframe: applications open concurrently with the General Grant Cycles. Each year, the application for Cycle I opens December 1st and the application for Cycle II opens June 2nd.
Project Examples: sensory-friendly spaces, toys & equipment, entryway ramps, vehicles for handicap individuals, fence for an autistic child, universal bathroom, inclusive playground upgrades.
Substance Abuse Recovery Grants
Grant Purpose: in collaboration with the City of Huntington, County Commissioners, the Town of Warren and the County Health Department, this grant is dedicated to combating substance abuse.
Eligibility: this grant is open to non-profits, government entities, school corporations and anyone working with/for the recovery of those suffering from substance abuse.
Application Timeframe: yearly application opens June 2nd.
Project Examples: substance abuse prevention, education, intervention & recovery initiatives, recovery home transportation, Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT), Botvin Lifeskills Training Program.
Hometown Grants
Grant Purpose: Hometown Grants serve to support projects, initiatives and community events within Warren, Markle and Andrews. Each program is overseen by a committee of local community members and provides funding for hometown initiatives.
Eligibility: the application is open to all organizations or projects that will benefit the respective hometown.
Application Timeframe: application opens early March each year.
Project Examples: park & trail upgrades, Salamonie Little Rebel Store launch, support for hometown Boys and Girls Club, funding for Historic Warren Main Street, downtown beautification efforts.
Immediate Needs Grant
Grant Purpose: these grants provide funding when an unforeseen need arises that requires immediate support.
Eligibility: any charitable organizations experiencing an immediate need are welcome to apply.
Application Timeframe: the application is open year-round.
Project Examples: support for warming stations following unexpected cold weather, replacing vital broken equipment, IT support after a website crash, replacing a classroom printer that broke down the first week of school.
