Immediate Needs Grant
Helping Charitable Organizations with Unexpected Expenses
The Immediate Needs (Emergency) Grant offers organizations serving Huntington County the ability to apply for a small grant when an unforeseeable and unexpected need arises that requires a quick response and cannot be delayed. In addition to the project’s cost being unforeseeable and unexpected, Immediate Needs (Emergency) grants will be evaluated based on the project’s merit and immediate purpose. Priority consideration will be given to those applicants that present a thoughtful, reasonable explanation as to why the project is time sensitive and requires a grant decision within 5 business days. Requests that are for the organizations regular budget and/or are not time sensitive will be denied.
An example of an Immediate Needs Grant Application that was approved is one that was given to a local non-profit that opened the use of its facility as an emergency warming center and overnight shelter when temperatures plummeted. Even though this organization collaborated with other agencies to serve our community, it still incurred additional expenses that were not in the budget for the year.
There are limited funds available for Immediate Needs grants each year. As a result, these grants are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Only one immediate needs grant will be awarded to an eligible organization each calendar year.
